Technologies Symposium at the Friday Center at the University of North Carolina
in Chapel Hill at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing

The Greater Henderson County Chamber
of Commerce and SCORE will hold a workshop on SBA and SCORE programs and
services at its downtown Hendersonville office. The workshop will
showcase the SBA’s entrepreneurial development, financing and government
contracting programs available for small businesses. SCORE-WNC representatives
will also speak about how their services can be of benefit to small business
owners as well. The workshop is open to existing and startup small
business owners in the area and takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the
conference room at the Chamber offices, located at 204 Kanuga Road, at the corner
of Kanuga and Church Streets. The workshop is free of charge, but

6-10, 2012 The Entrepreneur Boot Camp for Veterans Fayetteville
The Entrepreneur Boot Camp for
Veterans (EBC) at Fayetteville State University is an excellent training
opportunity for veterans, spouses, and family members: This one week
program is offered free of charge. The program was developed to assist
veterans, spouses and family members who want to start a business by helping
them to develop competencies in the steps and activities required for start-up.
Topics covered: Idea conception and basic elements of small business creation
and growth; Understanding basic management, marketing, sales, accounting and
operations; How to develop and write an effective business plan; How to
find and secure financing for a small business; Leveraging social media to
advance a small business.All costs, meals, materials and text books for the EBC
are funded by the SBA, the Veterans Business Outreach Center, and the Bank of
America. Applications will be accepted from all veterans, active duty
transitioning to civilian, Guard and Reserve, spouses, survivors of our fallen
heroes, and1st degree family members. The class is limited to 25 participants,
so we highly encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible. For further

Businesses Enka
This workshop targets veteran-owned
small businesses that seek to do business with the government and takes place
at the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Enka campus in western
Buncombe County. Workshop attendees will discover how to identify sales
opportunities; evaluate federal and state solicitations for jobs; register a
business; find assistance resources; understand the bid process; match a firm
with the various SBA and other federal contracting preference programs to
maximize a firm’s marketability; and tap into the SBA surety bond guaranty
program. Featured speakers include Clark Fields, Procurement Technical
Assistance Counselor with the SBTDC and Mike Arriola, Senior Area Manager with
